News from Shanghai
Launch of the first Asian node of a zero-carbon telecommunications network prototype

September 1, 2011 – As part of Quebec Premier Jean Charest’s recent trade mission in China, Mr. Clément Gignac, Quebec’s minister of economic development, innovation and export trade, joined Prompt CEO Charles Despins in Shanghai at the launch of a scientific collaboration between the Shanghai Research Center for Wireless Communications (WICO) represented by its vice-CTO, Dr. Yang Yang, and the GreenStar Network (GSN) headed by the École de technologie supérieure. The Greenstar concept is generating significant interest as a key driver to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through information and communication technologies. Participating simultaneously through telepresence in Montreal were Pierre Boucher, head of research for Ericsson Canada, Prof. Mohamed Chériet, GSN project leader, and Jacques McNeill, Prompt’s Green ICT coordinator.
